A consumer joins the Co-op by purchasing a membership. The membership helps pay for the logistics of maintaining the Co-op and serves to level out some the expenses of actually raising the animals. Each membership provides the purchaser with one or more poultry items, such as a turkey, or a goose, or some chickens, or eggs or turkey sausage. Additional items can be purchased at discounted prices on the Co-op Members Shopping Cart. All items beyond those guaranteed by the membership fee are subject to availability. Deposits or advance payment is required for all additional items at the time of order.

Co-op Product Availability
Most poultry products are seasonal and not always available all times of the year. Some. like chickens, are generally available but there may be time periods where you have to wait till a batch is processed. Holiday roasting turkeys and geese are processed in the fall, as are ducks. All whole birds are this year's hatch and are never more than 7 months of age. Poultry should be ordered early in the spring before the end of hatching season for best availability. The processed poultry are provided as whole, cleaned, frozen birds complete with giblets when appropriate or as portions in packages.

Encouraging early ordering and advance payment is essential to the success of the Co-op. It provides the consumer the certainty of getting the desired item at a predictable time and at a price that is fair to all involved. It allows the Co-op to plan the season’s endeavors with the knowledge of how many products will be required, and when. This planning helps reduce costs and risks and allows the producer to concentrate on raising (rather than marketing) the livestock.

USDA Inspection
All the meat products sold to members are processed at a USDA Inspected facility. Whenever possible, local processing plants are utilized. No products sold to members are butchered or dressed on the producers’ farms. USDA Inspection adds cost but provides consistent quality and ensures the animals are processed safely. It also demonstrates the Co-op’s philosophy of supporting local family businesses and keeping farm dollars in the community.

Membership Fees and Options
A single family membership for the 2009 calendar year costs $85.00 per year. Each membership comes with one of several product options, depending upon the interests of the purchaser. Please see the option list on the membership sign up page for a complete listing of the available sign up options. Members get to choose one of the items from the list as their membership option. The options may vary during the course of the season as product availability fluctuates.

Renewal Discounts
Returning customers that renew their memberships are awarded one additional food item free as a gesture of our appreciation for their continued support. This is in addition to their membership option. Please see the renewal option drop down menu on the membership sign up page for a complete listing of the available renewal options. Returning members get to choose one item from the drop down menu as their renewal option. The options may vary during the course of the season as product availability fluctuates.

Poultry Purchases
Members may order additional poultry products at any time. However, after hatching season (end of May) all items are subject to availability. There is a fairly wide variation in poultry weights as the males weigh more than females, and each bird grows at its own natural rate. A range of weights is given for each bird as a means of comparison. Members are guaranteed a bird in the weight range, but not a specific weight. We will always try to accommodate any specifically requested weight.

Heritage Turkeys, Geese and Ducks
W
hole
Turkeys are available as holiday roasters in the fall. A limited amount of whole birds and value added turkey products are available at other times of the year. The Soy-Free geese are sold as whole birds and are available in the fall until supplies run out. Ducks are available as whole birds in the fall until supplies run out. The whole bird pricing is based on weight and is finalized after the birds are butchered. A deposit is required for each bird ordered; the final cost, less the deposit, is paid when the birds are delivered. Turkeys are divided into weight categories: small (under 10 lbs), medium (10-15 lbs) and large (over 15 lbs). All cost the same, but the categories allow us to better match weight expectations. Geese weigh 7 to 10 lbs. Ducks weigh 2.5 to 3.5 lbs. Please see the product description page for more information about our heritage turkeys, geese, and ducks.

Genuine Heritage Breed Chicken
Many of our genuine heritage breed chickens are provided to us by the Good Shepherd Turkey Ranch in Lindsborg, KS, while a smaller number are raised here locally in CO.
These are certified heritage chickens, humanely raised on pasture, all natural, no antibiotics. They are available as whole birds as well as packages of breasts, thighs and legs. All heritage chicken products are sold by the pound. Please see the product description page for more information about these truly unique heritage chickens.

Eggs
Chicken eggs and Soy-Free duck eggs come in cartons of 12 eggs each and have a set price that is paid for up front at the time of the order. The demand for farm fresh eggs is very high. To be as fair to everyone as possible and to allow everyone that wants eggs to be able to get some, we ask that you limit your advance order for eggs to no more than 12 dz chicken eggs and 12 dz duck eggs. After everyone's advance orders are met, more eggs can be purchased on an as-available basis. We appreciate your understanding in this request.

Pork Purchases
All natural, locally raised and processed bulk pork is available as a side of pork cut to your specifications. Whole processed pigs can also be ordered. A side of pork is about 60 lbs of freezer meat. Pork must be ordered in advance. Please email us for information on whole pork orders and cut sheets for custom processing.

Lamb Purchases
Locally grown and processed lamb, raised naturally on a Soy-Free diet, is available in value packs of approximately 10, 20 or 30 lbs each. The contents of each pack will vary but will include selections from the following cuts: lamb roasts, streaks, ground lamb, stew meat, Shish Kabob meat, and lamb sausage. Lamb is a seasonal product, with lambs born in February and ready for processing in late summer.
