The Co-op is located on 70 acres of land.
We have equipment, water, and a greenhouse. We would like to partner
with someone to develop vegetable CSA on our property. This is a
great opportunity for the right folks with the potential for a lot
of synergy. The CSA would operate separately from the Co-op. But
we would share customers and some of the operational tasks.
The rural location of the co-op land will
intimidate some potential CSA members because of the relatively
long drive to get here. It is an obstacle the Co-op has had to deal
with for years. The delivery and drop off locations we have established
in town successfully addresses this issue. A similar approach could
be utilized by the farm CSA. Attending a farmer's market once a
week could also provide a means for customers to pick up their vegetable
shares as well as providing additional sales. Working members will
still be required for a successful CSA, but they won't be impossible
to find. The Co-op has some working members itself.
Growing vegetables in eastern Colorado is
a challenge and requires an experienced CSA farmer to succeed.
Please contact
us for more information if you are interested in this CSA opportunity.
