What's new with the Co-op in 2010?

Chickens:
Finally got the new chicken house completed last summer. The chickens love it. And it gives us room to raise more chickens to increase egg production. Have some interesting blue breeds to compliment the Blue Slate turkeys, Blue Orpingtons, Blue Crested Marans and Blue Laced Red Wyandottes.

Also we have several new chicken products, that are listed on the shopping cart with the other heritage chicken selections:
Smoked Heritage Chicken. These are fully cooked whole chickens that need only to be warmed up in the oven. Takes all the guessing out of cooking these chickens and helps with a busy after work schedule.
Ground Chicken. One lb packages of 100% ground heritage chicken containing both breast and thigh meat.

Chicken Sausage. One LB packages of 100% ground heritage chicken containing both breast and thigh meat, with a zesty mix of flavorful and natural seasonings. No MSG or other artificial ingredients.

Turkeys:
Last year we tried making Turkey Jerky and had a few samples of it. It was pretty good so we will have it available for purchase this year. It comes in 2 oz packages. It is listed on the shopping cart with the turkey food items.

Ground Turkey. We are now offering ground turkey made from only white meat, dark meat or mixed white and dark. The white meat comes from the breast, and the dark meat comes from the thighs. In years past, our ground turkey has been the mixed white and dark meat.

Lamb:
The lamb was well received last year and we will be doing it again. The North African sausage was very popular and so this year we are offering it as an individual item. Please see the shopping cart value pack section.

Land Share Program:
The Co-op would like to partner with someone to develop vegetable CSA on our farm property. This is a great opportunity for the right folks with the potential for a lot of synergy. The CSA would operate separately from the Co-op. But we would share customers and some of the operational tasks. Please contact us if you are interested.
